CONTROL STRATEGIES
An Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach is necessary for the effective control of noxious weeds and invasive species.
IPM is a process that utilizes a combination of tools and strategies which focus on the long-term management and prevention of unwanted pests and plant species. As defined in 7 U.S.C. § 136r, IPM is “a sustainable approach to managing pests by combining biological, cultural, physical, and chemical tools in a way that minimizes economic, health, and environmental risks.” For additional information on visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Integrated Pest Management Page
IPM tools include: chemical, mechanical, manual, cultural, and biological, along with various prevention strategies and practices.
